STEM Educational Excursion

The STEM Educational Excursion was organized by the Department of Education (CTA) for the students of Classes IX and X with the aim of providing practical learning experiences beyond the classroom. The excursion was designed to inspire curiosity, promote scientific thinking, and expose students to higher education and diverse fields of knowledge. Through visits to renowned educational and scientific institutions, students had the opportunity to connect classroom concepts with real-world applications while broadening their understanding of science, technology, and innovation.

The first destination was the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, where students explored a wide range of interactive exhibits related to science, engineering, robotics, space technology, biotechnology, and innovation. The hands-on displays and demonstrations made learning engaging and enjoyable, encouraging students to think critically, ask questions, and develop a deeper appreciation for scientific discoveries and technological advancements.

The excursion also included a visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, where students attended an informative astronomy show. The presentation introduced them to fascinating topics such as the solar system, stars, galaxies, planets, constellations, and the vast universe. The immersive experience sparked curiosity about space science and inspired many students to learn more about astronomy and the mysteries of the cosmos.

In addition to exploring science and technology, students visited the Dalai Lama Institute for Higher Education. During the visit, they were introduced to the institution's academic programs, educational philosophy, and the opportunities available for higher studies. The interaction emphasized the importance of academic excellence, personal growth, ethical values, and lifelong learning, motivating students to think about their future educational aspirations.

The final destination of the excursion was the Sowa Rigpa Men-Tsee-Khang College, Bengaluru, where students were introduced to the traditional Tibetan system of medicine, known as Sowa Rigpa. They learned about the principles of this ancient medical practice, the use of medicinal herbs, diagnostic techniques, and holistic approaches to healthcare. The visit provided valuable insights into how traditional knowledge continues to play an important role alongside modern medicine, helping students appreciate the richness and diversity of medical sciences.

Throughout the excursion, students actively participated in discussions, observed demonstrations, and gained valuable knowledge through firsthand experiences. The visit not only enhanced their understanding of science, technology, and higher education but also encouraged them to think creatively, explore new ideas, and appreciate different systems of knowledge.
